How To Buy
BookThink Premium Resources
A FAQ Addendum

Now and again, when I get question after question on the same topic over an extended period of time, it makes sense to gather these questions together and clarify things. The topic I'd like to address today is BookThink's Premium Resources - the reports you put down hard-earned money for.

Top 10 on eBay
May 2009

Notice how many fiction and non-fiction top 10 titles are sold as Best Offer or Buy It Now? The trend continues in May 2009 with 16 - count 'um - selling without the traditional eBay auction experience taking place. Of those 16, 6 sold as Best Offers and 10 sold as BINs. Even in the Antiquarian & Collectible top 10, there were 1 BO and 1 BIN. Maybe it's time to nail down the underlying import for booksellers.

Selling on eBay
Using Best Offer to Increase Your Revenue

It's no secret that most booksellers aren't making a killing this summer. I hear or read something about it every day. Blame it on the economy, the season, ever-increasing competition - whatever. Apart from applying the serious, long-term strategy we so often recommend in our premium newsletters, is there anything that you can do now to increase your revenue? QMR Book of the Month Update
Suppertime for Frieda Fuzzypaw Revisited

Some of you may recall a previous QMR feature we ran on Suppertime for Frieda Fuzzypaw, a book that was found near the remains of Caylee Anthony. A video had also been released showing her reading it. Not surprisingly the book has subsequently soared in value. [Read the entire article here.]

How To Build Your Own Boxes

I recently sold a copy of my favorite dictionary - Webster's Second New International Dictionary. At over 600,000 entries, it's the largest English language dictionary ever produced, not to mention the heaviest. Consequently, as many large, heavy books do, it presents some packaging challenges. Top 10 on eBay
April 2009

Lately the words "signed limited edition" ring in my ears every time I work on the eBay Top 10 fiction list. This time, I counted and here's what I found: half the list of 10 (in-part or in-whole) was signed limited editions. Others, such as Lone Cowboy, by Will James were merely signed.

Buying Inventory Online
Mining Bookselling Gold with PicClick

Last month I purchased a book on eBay for under $30 that recently sold for about $250. Apart from making a nice profit on it, there were several interesting things associated with this process, not the least of which was that I didn't find the book using eBay Search or by browsing on eBay - or doing anything at all on eBay. Another interesting thing: During the course of the auction, just for the heck of it, I went to eBay Search and typed in a search string that I'd been using for years to find just this kind of book. Guess what? It didn't come up at or near the top of the results returned, nor did it come up further down the list. It didn't come up at all! [Read the complete article here.]

A Bookseller's Guide to Microsoft Outlook
Part I: Introduction, Signatures and Tasks

Think: Microsoft Outlook. Ever used it? Using it now? What help can it be to a simple bookseller such as I? You might be surprised - even if you already use it. Microsoft Outlook, not Microsoft Outlook Express. Express is what it says - Express, and therefore has fewer features than its bigger brother. [Read the complete article here.]
