Summer is prime book scouting time for many booksellers, especially so for those who live in more severe climates. Given how competitive things have gotten in recent years, some disappointment is probably inevitable. Fewer good books are out there, and more buyers are competing for them. Is there anything you can do to increase your chances of success? Definitely, and it has something to do with expectation - or, rather, its absence - and BookThink's Bookselling Proverb #14. More details are in today's feature article, "My Worst Scouting Day Ever."

June's Bookseller Profile features Stacy Moskus. This is timely because we've been discussing eBay bookselling in recent weeks, and Stacy is primarily an eBay seller who makes a full-time living working part-time hours. And loves every minute of it. She's also living proof that bookselling can be a great fit for those who are facing challenges in their lives that may shut them out of other professions.

Several reminders. BookThink has two special offers on the table until the end of June: the first 12 issues of the Gold Edition are available for $39.99 and our 4-part series on buying inventory online (issues #13 - #16) can be yours for $14.99. Also, if you're a charter subscriber to the Gold Edition, your subscription will expire with the July 5 issue. Renew by PayPal here or mail a check or money order to:
